Essential nutrients to support healing and energy levels.
Your body needs extra nutrition after birth to heal, produce milk, and restore energy stores. Focus on nutrient-dense foods that support recovery.
Key nutrients: protein for tissue repair (eggs, lean meat, legumes), iron to replenish blood loss (spinach, red meat, lentils), calcium for bone health (dairy, fortified plant milks), omega-3s for mood and brain health (salmon, walnuts, flaxseed).
Stay hydrated — aim for 8-10 glasses of water daily, more if breastfeeding. Keep healthy snacks on hand: nuts, fruit, yogurt, whole grain crackers.
Eat regularly, even if you do not feel hungry. Small, frequent meals can help maintain energy levels. Do not restrict calories while recovering or breastfeeding.
