A slow, gentle routine to start your day — safe for the early weeks.
This is a simple, floor-safe routine you can do before the baby wakes. Move slowly and stop if anything hurts.
Warm-up (1 min): Sit tall in a chair or on the edge of the bed. Roll your shoulders back 10 times, then side to side 10 times. Take 3 slow belly breaths, letting your belly soften on the inhale.
Main sequence (3 min):
- Seated neck stretch: gently tilt your ear toward each shoulder, holding 20 seconds per side.
- Cat-cow (if comfortable on hands and knees): alternate arching and rounding your back 8 times.
- Seated ankle circles: 10 circles each foot to help circulation.
- Standing calf raises (hold a chair back): 10 slow raises.
Cool-down (1 min): Sit quietly and breathe. Inhale for 4 counts, exhale for 6, repeating 5 times.
When to stop: if you feel pain, dizziness, or unusual bleeding, stop and contact your provider. Always get clearance for exercise at your postpartum checkup.
