Simple meal preparation strategies for the sleep-deprived parent.
Cooking is often the last thing on your mind when you are caring for a newborn. Meal prepping before birth or during the early weeks can ensure you have nourishing food readily available.
Freezer meals: prepare and freeze soups, stews, casseroles, and burritos before birth. One-handed snacks: granola bars, pre-cut fruit, string cheese, smoothies in a cup with a straw.
Ask friends and family to coordinate a meal train — one less thing to think about. Stock pantry staples: canned beans, whole grain pasta, nut butters, oats.
Accept help. If someone offers to bring a meal, say yes. You deserve to eat well without the stress of cooking.
