Week 5 postpartum: quiet consolidation before the six-week check

General guidance, not medical advice. Follow your own provider’s clearance. Read our Medical Disclaimer and Editorial Policy.

For most people bleeding has stopped or reduced to occasional spotting. Nothing dramatic tends to happen this week, which is itself the point — it is a consolidation week before the postnatal check.

It is a good week to write down what you want to raise at that appointment, because appointments are short and it is easy to leave having mentioned none of it.

What is most worth attending to

Worth a call this week

Bleeding that returns to bright red after stopping is worth a call.
